Built in 514 BC, Suzhou is an ancient city with 2500 years’ history, located in the center of Yangtze Delta. The unique characteristics of the past are still retained in present-day Suzhou. Suzhou International Expo Center (SuzhouExpo) is a large state owned exposition venue and show organizer fully invested by Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Administrative Committee.

SuzhouExpo is located beside the beautiful Jinji Lake of SIP，covering a site area of 320,000 m2 with total designed floor space of 255,000 m2．The total designed area of indoor exhibition space amounts to 120,000 m2 and the area of conference facilities amount to 11000m2.

SuzhouExpo is constructed in two phases. The Phase I construction started on the 27th Sept 2003 and was finished and put into operation on the 20th Oct 2004, with total investment of RMB2.2bn. Three exposition halls were constructed in this phase (Hall3, Hall4 and Hall5), which covers 70,000 m2 indoor floor space and 9,500 m2 conference space. Each exposition hall has two floors. The first floor has a net ceiling height of 10.5m and a load bearing capacity of 5t/ m2. The second floor has a net ceiling height of 12m and a load bearing capacity of 1.5t/ m2. The second floor of Hall 5 is a 26,000 m2 column-less continuous exhibition hall which ranks itself as the world’s largest room of its type．

Despite of being a three year old young company, SuzhouExpo has been an active and well-known player in the exposition industry both domestic and abroad and has been the full member company of all three global associations i.e. UFI, SISO and IAEE. Apart from leasing exposition spaces, SuzhouExpo has also successfully organized a series of shows of different sizes since its establishment. Among these shows, the Real-Estate show, the Travel show and Logistic show have all had extensive impact amongst the exhibition industry and visitors.

Market-orientation, professionalism and international cooperation have been the three building blocks in the development of SuzhouExpo’s business. Since 2006, three Rep offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Moscow have been established and have helped their mother company in information collection, business promotion and cooperation with its clients. In Oct 2007, Guohua Exhibition Co. Ltd and Suzhou International Advertising Co. Ltd. (the previous exhibition department and advertising department of SuzhouExpo) started to run independently to better manage show producing and advertising business.

Since the very beginning, SuzhouExpo has aimed at being one of the world class exhibition centers． The designing, construction， building, operation and management of this site have all had their footholds on a high starting point; The SOM from US undertook the construction designing and the Singapore Xingong Construction Group undertook the management of the construction project；SuzhouExpo is to have worldwide professional experts acting as consultant in venue management and operation；International investment is also welcomed for the Phase II (Hall 1 and Hall 2) construction and management to achieve win-win results between SuzhouExpo and its strategic partners.
